What’s the best meditation? Dressing up it is.

“It’s a good thing I was born a girl, otherwise I’d be a drag queen.”
― Dolly Parton

Isn’t exhausting all this: the dress, the hair, the makeup – asked my eldest son, watching me preparing for a good friend’s B-day party.
I get it – for many men, this is a mystery, that for so many of us, dressing up is a huge joy.

Like one of my beautiful friends said: it’s my meditation when I put my make up on.
I always loved to dress up and makeup.
My mom didn’t owe even a mascara, so I haven’t got that from her.
Well, not so many women did around there – because that time they had no clue about self-care: a good woman had to hustle and take care of everyone else except herself.
But I and my friends found true joy after long hours on a farm or in fields, to get off the dust and sweat in a hot steam bath.
And then meeting all together in one’s home, dressing up in our own creations, sometimes still with sewing needles in and helping each other with hair and makeup.
And off to dance we went.
I believe the most important part was that was connected.
We shared both our unhappy & happy love, funny and not so funny stories, embarrassment and struggles.
And as they say, a problem shared is a problem halved.
These are among my best memories, I am sure I still on my death bed will rejoice them.
Must keep them coming 🙂
